Dear friend,
For hundreds of Jewish orphaned children and vulnerable seniors in Ukraine, winter is not just a season—it is a life-threatening challenge to overcome.
The brutal cold of Ukrainian winters, where temperatures often plummet well below freezing, poses an unimaginable danger. The icy winds threaten to claim the lives of babies and elderly alike, leaving them exposed to the merciless chill with no way to fend for themselves.
Amid the devastation of war, this winter has become an even greater threat.
Under siege and facing daily hardships, we remain committed to providing humanitarian aid, food, medical care, and shelter. The safety of our community remains our highest priority, but we cannot do this alone.
This winter, we think of young Dov, a 6-year-old boy who lost both parents to illness and addiction. Despite the challenges he faces, Dov’s big brown eyes sparkled with joy when he received a new winter coat, finally giving him warmth and protection from the biting cold. It is children like Dov who remind us why we cannot falter in our mission.
We also think of Sara, a 9-month-old baby born into a world of turmoil. Without heated shelter and proper care, her tiny body cannot withstand the freezing temperatures. Your support ensures Sara stays safe, snug, and nourished through the cold months.
And then there’s 82-year-old Natalia, a widow and Holocaust survivor. Frail and alone, she endured sleepless nights in a freezing apartment. Thanks to the kindness of donors like you, Natalia will have a steady supply of nourishing hot meals to sustain her through the frigid temperatures of a Ukrainian winter.
As winter deepens, the peril grows. The cold becomes a silent enemy, and their survival depends on our collective action.
For these children and seniors, there is no other lifeline—they have no means of survival without our help.
On behalf of Mishpacha Odessa, I am reaching out to you with an urgent request for your generous support. Your donation will directly impact the lives of 120+ desperate orphans like Dov and Sara, and frail seniors like Natalia, providing them with the warmth, protection, and care they so desperately need.
Thanks to your kindness, Dov and Sara will sleep safely, well-fed, and warm, shielded from the freezing cold. Thanks to your compassion, Natalia will rest easier, knowing she is supported by dedicated caregivers who deliver not just physical necessities but also the emotional support that keeps her spirit alive during these dark days.
As Jewish people, we are a people bound by a legacy of giving, of compassion, and of standing together in times of need. Please, open your hearts and give generously.
Your support will help sustain our lifesaving efforts and ensure that our brothers and sisters do not have to face this harsh winter alone. They are counting on us.
With deepest gratitude,
Jewish Communities of Southern Ukraine
