The Power of Words, The Joy of Learning

In honor of Ukrainian Language and Literacy Day, Mishpacha’s classrooms in Odessa filled with the sounds of learning and laughter. Students worked side by side, creating bright posters, poems, and word collages that celebrated the beauty and power of language. Their smiles said it all: learning isn’t just about reading or writing — it’s about connection, confidence, and belonging.

Ukrainian Language Day: Celebrating Words, Learning, and Connection

The halls of Mishpacha’s school in Odessa were filled with joy and color as students celebrated Ukrainian Language and Literacy Day. Guided by their teachers, the children presented creative posters and recited poems about the power of words to bring people together.

Throughout the day, students worked side by side at long tables scattered with markers, glue sticks, and colorful paper. Each class prepared its own project — from illustrated Keys to Words to inspiring Palette of Words displays that covered the walls in light and color. Teachers guided and helped the children bring their ideas to life while encouraging them to explore what language means to them.

When it was time to present, the students stood tall beside their work. Some recited short poems, others explained their group projects, and a few even added creative touches with drawings or song. Their pride was evident in every word and smile.

Each student’s project reflected something unique — from hand-drawn “books of words” to group displays about the meaning of communication and culture. Their smiles said it all: learning isn’t just about reading or writing, it’s about connection, confidence, and belonging.

For these children, the day’s message was simple but powerful: words connect us. In every conversation, every story, and every classroom moment, language builds understanding and community.

This joyful celebration reminded everyone that education continues to bloom, even in uncertain times.

A heartfelt thank you to our teachers and supporters who help these young voices grow stronger every day.
